I agree with what you say about this being overall a relatively deflating listen. His voice is quite grating and incredibly un-Dylan and some form of the magic is gone.

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on my review I've just published as I feel we have similar arguments yet express them differently! :)

Nah, he got the rack-mounted harmonica from Woody. Being as much of a student as he was, he probably heard Jesse Fuller, but Guthrie was his role model.

I learned a lot from this post about the making of the first album. I didn’t know about the tension between Dylan and Hammond for instance.
